Gary Mcenroe

Background

GARY MCENROE

Gary serves as the Beach Captain overseeing all four lagoons in Ko Olina. In this role, he leads beach operations, supervises staff, and ensures that all activities run smoothly and efficiently. He is also a captain of a traditional Hawaiian double-hulled sailing canoe, demonstrating both leadership and deep cultural knowledge on the water.

In addition to his operational expertise, Gary is a skilled master weaver of Hawaiian papale (hats), preserving and practicing an important cultural art form. His experience reflects a balance of modern management and traditional ʻike (knowledge).

In ancient Hawaiʻi, a leader with Gary’s level of responsibility and stewardship would have been known as a konohiki—an individual entrusted with managing land and ocean resources while ensuring balance, sustainability, and the well-being of the community.
